William Sherlock, the longest-serving president and chief executive officer of Foxwoods Resort Casino, has announced plans to retire at the end of 2006.

For almost a decade Sherlock diligently and loyally worked to strengthen and improve Foxwood's position as the premier resort destination in North America. The Tribal Nation is proud of the dedication and commitment Sherlock has illustrated over the past nine years.

Under Sherlock's tenure, Foxwoods strengthened revenue in key areas, upgraded the property's image, revamped Foxwoods retail offerings along with the casino's food and beverage operations. Sherlock never lost sight of the Tribal Nation's desire to fashion a true destination resort at Mashantucket. He also guided the Rainmaker Expansion which finished last year and numerous other property improvements that added some $300 million in value to the resort. (More)

It was a full house at the grand opening of the new World Poker Tour branded poker room at Foxwoods Resort Casino on March 23rd. World Poker Tour Commentator and co-host Mike Sexton joined actress/model Carmen Electra for the red carpet event, where Electra dealt the ceremonial ‘first hand' to players participating in the $25,000 charity poker tournament.

Electra and Sexton, along with Lisa Gastineau, star of television series The Gastineau Girls all arrived in limousines, which pulled up to the red carpet laid out for their grand entrance. They posed as photographers snapped away, and Inside Edition interviewed each celebrity on the red carpet.

"I'd like to thank Foxwoods for putting up this generous pool today," announced Sexton, who served as emcee and introduced Electra and all of the players.

Representing publications such as US Weekly, People, FHM, Boston Herald, and Inside Edition, the players were each representing a charity of their choice such as the American Cancer Society, the Christopher Reeve Foundation, American Red Cross, and UNICEF. (More)

Lake of Isles opens for second full season

Lake of Isles, the world-class golf facility located across from Foxwoods Resort Casino and owned by the Mashantucket Pequots, has opened for its second full season. The picturesque views and manicured greens and fairways provide a compelling invitation to golfers eager to get back on the links.

"Curtis (Tyrrell) and his team have done a wonderful job protecting us from the winter elements and preparing the golf courses for play this spring," said Brock Nicholas, Assistant General Manager.

"The turf is healthy, strong, and gaining more and more color each day. We have already lowered the greens cutting heights twice since the start of mowing, and our focus in the near future remains on steadily improving playability and bunker consistency."

Local players have even more reason to be excited. The Mashantucket Pequots have announced that residents of North Stonington, Ledyard, and Preston will be able to play golf at the award winning North Course for half price golf fees during two 15-day periods this year: May 1 - 14 and September 1- 14. TRIBAL SYMBOLS

Framed against the sky, the lone tree on a knoll represents Mashantucket, the "much-wooded land" where the Pequots hunted and kept alive their identity as an independent people. Displayed on the knoll is the sign of Robin Cassasinnamon, the Pequot’s first leader following the 1637 massacre at Mystic Fort. The fox stands as a reminder that the Pequots are known as "the fox people."
