Tribe Approves $700 Million Foxwoods Expansion

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation has unveiled plans for a breathtaking new $700 million resort at Foxwoods, scheduled to break ground this summer. The highly-anticipated development project will significantly increase the size of what is already the largest casino in the world, and further solidifies Foxwoods' position as a world-class resort, casino and convention destination.

Foxwoods Resort Casino reported a net slot win of $56.1 million in January, a month that saw the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation's contributions to the state of Connecticut surpass the $2 billion mark ($2,002,826,769).

Tribes, Norwich work together to build library

The restoration of Norwich, spearheaded by the recent opening of the Mercantile Exchange, a collaborative effort between the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the City of Norwich, experienced another victory this month as plans were unveiled on February 4 for the highly anticipated Otis Library construction in its original downtown location.
City representatives joined the Mashantucket Pequots and Mohegans to announce another positive cooperative effort between both tribes and the City of Norwich and to acknowledge the promise on behalf of both tribes for significant funding for the project. (More)

Framed against the sky, the lone tree on a knoll represents
Mashantucket, the "much-wooded land" where the Pequots hunted and
kept alive their identity as an independent people. Displayed on the
knoll is the sign of Robin Cassasinnamon, the Pequot’s first leader
following the 1637 massacre at Mystic Fort. The fox stands as a
reminder that the Pequots are known as "the fox people."
